Happy New Year! Congratulations! and Welcome!

| |

Happy New Year! Just got back from holidays/ overseas assignment in the Philippines where I did bridal make up to a good friend and also marched as one of her bride's maids. wee! It was a beautiful wedding in Bataan, or a place called, Anvaya Cove: a 3.5 hour away from Manila on a good traffic of 80kph. And yes, in the pHilippines 80kph is good!!!

Yes it is New Year's and time flew by soooo fast! My friend, Kaye is now married to her high school crush whom I also happen to meet in 2007. I met the groom en route to Las Vegas during a road trip with Kaye and Camille in the west end. So all the way from California, who would have thought love would bring Adz to Canada to continue his studies and pursue the love of his life?  Love indeed is patient and kind :)

Kaye & Adz during their first reunion in December 2007 =)

Then last year, my dad visited me at work telling me to leave work early as I HAVE to attend this couple's Valentine's party at church where only old couples usually attend. Right there and then, I knew I will be soon flying to the Philippines to attend a destination wedding :)

(Now) they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate. (Matthew 19:6, NIV)

Congratulations Ate Kaye & Kuya Adz!
video I got off YouTube, thanks!

Now, on to the aesthetic part...

Her wedding is an all white event and only us, entourage wore blue carrying her theme as "blue and white." I initially did a very natural look focusing on her eyes applying MAC's "2 lash" falsies. My plan is to give her a totally "no make-up look," a current make up trend most brides ask for these days but as time goes by and more family members goes inside the room, for their make up, I started seeing dullness in colour by
everyone wearing nothing but white. So, I followed my mood change. Inspired by the mother of the bride's peach dress, I custom made Kaye's "lipstick" to corals keeping her lips as natural as possible. As for her cheeks, I loaded her with Nar's Orgasm as it is the perfect match for her undertone; giving her the most natural cheek tint. Out on the beach, in the dark and with loads of artificial light, guess what, it worked out!! Note to self: It's good to follow your face chart sometimes but once you're out on the field, you sometimes have to balance the "plan" with your mood as an artist.

One thing I knew and didn't justify until experience is how muggy it is in the Philippines! I was very lucky for wearing a mixture of cotton and polyester for this event but I can imagine how much more it was for the bride!! I carried MAC's blotting powder on my bride's maids pouch and Make Up Forever's HD powder and it saved my job foul proof! wheew!

Bringing back memories, pictures says a thousand words. Watch out for those smiles :))

me and Kaye on our way to LA after we met up with Adz in 2007.
Somebody's glowing, can you tell? :))

Me, Kaye & Camille at a San Diego home.
Toronto flights got cancelled that day due to a snow storm.
This girl in the middle's sad. Not bc of the snow storm; she left her heart in California!  :))

The proposal :-) February 2010.

and now the "two are united into one...
Let no one split apart what God has joined together."

Forgive me for this vid, my hands were shaking as I was trying to hide my videocam by my bridesmaid flowers =p
